How to Measure for a Martingale Collar

Martingale collars aren’t very common-at least not yet. There are many benefits to using them though.

The first step to using a martingale is making sure you have the correct fit. There are 2 places you need to measure-the head around the ears (widest part of your dog’s head) and the neck where the collar will sit.

The collar needs to expand wide enough to be able to slip on over your dog’s head since most martingale collars don’t have a buckle- there are a few that offer this option but we don’t. A buckle/snap can break causing your dog to get out of the collar-which is what we’re trying to prevent.

Once the collar is on the neck, just adjust it until it fits properly- not too loose, not too snug. Make sure you can fit a couple fingers between your dog’s skin and the collar.

Now you dog has a martingale collar that fits!
